The Statistical Mechanics of Soft Materials is a young group, founded in 2019. The group has a background in statistical physics and expertise in theory and modeling of a variety of soft matter systems, for cutting-edge applications in engineering and materials science. Drawing on I-nhouse numerical simulations (MD, MC, BD) and/or on the analysis of experiments performed in partner laboratories, research activities of our group aims at an understanding of macroscopic phenomena in chemical physics on a microscopic ground. Research topics include diffusion and relaxation processes, as well as rheology, in the following soft-matter systems:

- polymers
- liquid crystals
- suspensions
- emulsions
- glass-forming liquids
- colloidal suspensions - gels
- polymer nano-composite
- granular materials
